In endurance sports, there’s a hidden season that isn’t well publicized to the general public. It’s the trade show season. While the trade show season isn’t a formalized process overseen by a governing body, it has over the years, developed a fairly defined circuit.
A primary purpose of a Trade Show is to provide retailers an efficient means by which to identify new products and to place orders for the next season. In the U.S. endurance sports world there are four or five (depending on how you look at it) key events.
A Body In Motion
Newton (as in Sir Isaac not the shoe company) noted that a body in motion continues to stay in motion until acted upon by another force. Despite being made of many individual bodies, the Coeur family continued to stay, very much in motion last week. In fact, it probably did more than just remain in motion, it actually increased velocity.

In full swing with the Coeur Team
Well, the endurance sports season in the U.S. is getting into full swing. With the Memorial Day holiday just around the corner, we thought it would make sense to share a quick update on what has been going on lately at Coeur.
Podiums
Our ambassador team has been out in full force and they have been grabbing podium spots across the country. As of today, we have seven ladies who have qualified for 70.3 Worlds and four who have grabbed Kona slots. With more races in front of us than behind, we expect that both of those numbers will grow.
A bike named Trots
So, let me tell you about my first bike. Not my first bike ever but certainly my first bike with a name. I used it in my first ever triathlon. He was made of steel, his shifters were on the down tube and his name was….Trots. Trots? What kind of name is that? Was your bike named for Leon Trotsky? Or some type of digestive disorder?
No! Of course not. Trots stood for….I mean, it means, or it meant. Well, actually, I can’t say with certainty why the bike was named Trots.
Despite the fact that Trots that was 20 lbs heavier than my bike, Kebby still beat me in her first triathlon
We talk about one tough female triathlete
One of our favorite sayings is that “Steel Sharpens Steel”. Hang around hard working people and you’ll probably work harder. Run with fast people and you’ll likely run faster. We think the same holds true with toughness. Associate yourself with strong-willed individuals and…well…you get the point.
Soo..what is up with...Witsup?
If you’re a female endurance sports aficionado and you spend any time on the internet, you may have come across the Australian site called Witsup.com (www.witsup.com). The name “Witsup” is part acronym and part abbreviation. It stands for Women In Triathlon… what’s up!? Except that the phrase “what’s up” is shortened to “sup”. Stated a different way, Women in Triathlon…Sup? Witsup!?
Grams, shoots and random musings...what we've been up to recently
It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Coeur and we wouldn’t have it any other way. To the extent that it is interesting, here’s what we have been up to.
Hey…I’ll take a gram. Not that! Instagram. If you haven’t checked it out lately, hop over to the Coeur Instagram site (instagram.com/coeursports). Andrea is one of our Ambassadors and she has taken over management of the site. Andrea has an amazing eye and her talent comes through in the pictures she takes.
